I admit that Star Academy (the 1st season) had an influence on me and on most of the youth in the Arab World, it was a new concept that we weren’t used to see on any Arabic Channel especially with the real T.V. Now, Star Academy is in its 5th season, during the past 4 seasons, every year it became worse than the year before, with people from all over the Arab World as we used to see Jordanians participants.
During those years and in parallel with Star Academy, new technologies came up and most of Star Academy affected people were trying to utilize those technologies (SMS and web social networks mainly) in order to support their fans.
All of us know that the most famous social network nowadays is “Facebook”, the inspiration of writing this article came from the invitation that I got to join a group that is called “نشهد أنك مظلوم يا قويدر الأردني النشمي الأصيل“, in English “Jordanian Qwaider we all vouch that you are oppressed”. What an irony, I’m not watching this season of Star Academy but I can know what is happening in the program from my friends and colleagues. First of all, Star Academy is something that is not worth any second of our time “at least the people who have value for time” to watch or to interact with, it’s against all of our Arabic and Islamic rules. Second, do you think that the one who’s called “Mohammad Qwaider”, with all of the stupidity and silliness that he is acting according to, is worth the support of any of the us? Well, from my perspective, this guy is not worth any cent of our money or any second of our time to support. And it’s better for him to stay there in Lebanon. Maybe he will be able to learn the way that people should treat each other with from the Lebanese people.
Wake up people, we can use facebook to support the Palestinians and Iraqis, we can use it to support our country but not to support “Mohammad Qwaider”. Let’s try to start utilizing any resource to serve our lives and to improve our abilities. Not to lag behind the Human Development process.
